John Marquis scores twice as Shrewsbury beat Barnsley.

Shrewsbury Town have signed striker John Marquis on a two-year contract following his release by Bristol Rovers.

The 32-year-old scored in Rovers’ 2-0 win at Town in last September – one of 13 goals in 71 league appearances for the Gas.

Marquis started his career at Millwall before having permanent spells with Doncaster, Portsmouth and Lincoln.

John Marquis scored twice as already-relegated Shrewsbury beat Barnsley 2-1 at Oakwell.

The visitors had the ball in the net early on after Mal Benning volleyed in a George Lloyd cross but the flag went up for offside.

The Shrews did take the lead in the 18th minute. Luca Hoole beat his man and sent in a delivery that Marquis slammed home.

At the other end, keeper Jamal Blackman made a good stop to deny Adam Phillips.

Luca Connell hit an effort from 20 yards that clipped the crossbar on its way over just before the break.

Substitute Max Watters nearly found the target with a header following Barry Cotter’s cross in the first chance of the second half.

Shrewsbury doubled their advantage คาสิโนออนไลน์ UFABET ฝากถอนรวดเร็ว เริ่มต้นเล่นง่าย on 67 minutes after Callum Stewart sent in a cross which Marquis guided home with a clever flick for his second of the afternoon.

Jon Russell got one back for the Tykes in the 78th minute when he converted on the turn inside the box.
